Ravine Lonna's Block 2018
This special block of Cabernet Franc is dedicated to Norma-Jane’s late sister Lonna who cared for the horses that resided at the end of the Cabernet Franc vines near York Road. 2018 was cooler year so picking dates were crucial. Nonetheless our estate fruit still captures the essence of what makes Lonna’s Block so special with a little bit of cool climate joie de vivre.
Blueberries, cassis and ripe roasted red bell pepper are dominant on the nose of this wine. A plush deep palate round out your palate as ripe fruit flavours complemented with balanced acidity leave you with a long lingering finish.
This wine will go well with firm cheeses, roasts, stews, grilled steaks and braised short ribs. The wine is designed to handle richness but also evolve when flavours of salt, spice, and fat are in the mix. I think it’s a great showcase of what cool climate cabs grown on our St. Davids site is all about.
